General

The Rehabilitation Hospital of Wisconsin’s general rehabilitation program is available for patients that need an acute inpatient rehabilitation program (intensive therapies) for their generalized deconditioned needs.  These patients are assessed in the acute hospital, as all of our patients are, and deemed appropriate for our general rehab program.  The common functional problems for patients that fall under this category are:

  • Overall weakness (due to sickness, etc.)
  • Pulmonary issues
  • Pain control
  • Cardiac issues
  • Aphasia (difficulty with facial expressions and movement)
  • Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
  • Loss of coordination
  • Loss of joint movement
