The patients referred to RHOW are educated on our admission criteria and medically assessed by a RN Clinical Liaison before admission.  All inpatients are required to complete three hours of therapy divided into several sessions throughout the day.  This may seem intimidating, but it is also extremely rewarding and decreases the inpatient’s length of stay.  Inpatient rehabilitation programs are designed to benefit individuals with diagnoses such as:

  • Stroke
  • Brain Injury
  • Neurological Conditions (such as MS or Parkinson’s)
  • Multiple Trauma
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Orthopedic Injuries (joint replacements & fractures)
  • Amputation
  • Active polyarticular and psoriatic arthritis
  • Advanced osteoarthritis

To be considered for admission to RHOW, patients must meet the following inpatient rehabilitation criteria:

  • Must be medically stable (based on Clinical Liaison assessment)
  • Able to tolerate three hours per day of therapy (physical, occupational, and speech) soon after admission
  • Require 24-hour nursing care and intensive level of at least two types of therapy (physical, occupational, or speech)
  • Goal to return to community living situation and functional independence
  • Physician and insurance approval
